Bonjour. That would be an exclamation, but I still dont know how to work the french keyboard. Typos aside, my life is great. The orientation in NYC wasnt that informational, but I got to meet kids who are going to Russia, the Netherlands, and the Flemish part of Belgium. The plane ride over on lufthansa was good and so was my asian vegetarian meal. We missed our flight to Bruxelles, so we flew to Frankfurt, sat in the airport for 4 hours, and enjoyed a beer. Then we got to Bruxelles, and we had an excellent and very fun orientation, with kids from the whole world who come to Belgium. Finally, we had a scavenger hunt on the way to met our families, which was very fun. Then the moment we waited for.... The meet the families ceremony, which was great. I was greeted by my WONDERFUL family, who gave me a cute canard with a belgian flag. Then we took the hour drive to my new home of FLORENNES. I LOVE IT. It is so old, there is a church that was built in 1000-something. I had dinner with my new famille and met the whole group. Most of my extended family lives in my town, and they all seem very close. Anyway, I will try and take photos soon, and post them.
A bientot....

Hello! This is my first post! I'm still not in Belgium yet, but I leave tomorrow! It is my last day in U S and A... How sad. There is still so much I want to do, and not enough time to do it. For example, today as I sit and eat my mac n' cheese (how quintessentially American) you can bet I will be thinking- will I eat this again within the year? will I still even like it a year from now?
Enough of the nostalgia.
I'm really excited because my host family has decided to keep me for the whole year and has made arrangements so I can do so! In addition, there will be another kid from AFS in my town- an American! (who will probably know more french than I... that isn't hard)
Anyway, I have my address(in Belgium,) so e-mail me, or comment if you want it.
